Spectroscopic Methods

The branch of science that deals with interaction of radiated energy and matter is referred as spectroscopy. It deals with the study of visible light and their wavelength dispersion for instance prism. After which the interaction of radiation energy as function of frequency or wavelength is considered. The data’s from spectroscopic method is obtained from spectrum. The observation of color is correlated with spectroscopic method. Atomic spectroscopy utilizes neon lighting. Neon and other gases have the characteristic of emitting colors. Neon lamps shall utilize electrical power to incite the emissions. Compounds like ink, paints and dyes also generate colors and hues. Molecular spectrum usually come across is from nitrogen dioxide. The phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering is responsible for the sky to appear blue. This is referred as spectroscopic scattering phenomenon.

The spectroscopic methods are involved in quantum mechanics development, black body radiation by Max Planck, Photoelectric effect by Albert Einstein, Spectra formation and atomic structure by Niels Bohr’s. Spectroscopic method is widely used method in the field of analytical chemistry and physics. This method helps in determination of identifying, detecting and quantifying chemical compounds.  It is also used in remote sensing and astronomical field. Research telegraphs are found to include spectrographs. The quantification determines physical and chemical property of astronomical objects for instance velocity and temperature.
