Power Station

The power station is also called as power house, generating station or power plant, is an industrial facility which is used for the generation of the electricity or electric power.  The power plant is the assembly subsystems or systems in order to generate electricity that is generating or power with requirements and economy.The power station itself should be environmental friendly and useful economically to the society.Generally there are two types of energy generation such are conventional   power generation and non conventional power generation. While the stress is on the energy efficient power system i.e. to increase the power system conversion efficiency the supreme goal is to design, develop and produce the non-conventional power generating systems in coming years preferably after 2050 AD that are helpful to society  and  having sufficient energy conversion efficiency and  eco friendly.  The subject as a whole could be also stated as modern power stations for power i.e electricity generation in twenty first century.

A power station might also be defined as an assembly of equipment or machine which generates and provides a flow of electrical or mechanical energy.  The major device or equipment which is used for the power generation is the generator. While coupling it to the main mover runs the power generator, the power is generated.  Some of the major power station for generating electric is mentioned below:

• Steam power plant
• Hydro electric power plant
• Gas turbine power plant
• Diesel power plant
• Nuclear power plant

All these station contribute in generating electric to the entire world. Even solar energy is also used for generating electricity. 15 percent of the worlds power supply is generated by the wind energy.
