HTML, JavaScript, Style sheets

HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. This was developed for designing web pages. This HTML is not a Programming language but only a markup language, with in built tags, which are used for designing WebPages. The HTML Markup Tags are also known as Html Tags these tags are enclosed in angular brackets (< >) where the whole program or the code of the specific WebPages is enclosed in these angular brackets. To view these WebPages a browser is required. For viewing these WebPages or the HTML Documents Internet Explorer was developed. The HTML language contains a head tag and body tag, and an End tag. The head tag contains the name of the page, the body tag contains the main part of the program and end tag is nothing but the closing of the program These WebPages contains only a heading and a plain text. It doesn’t contain any logic like any other programming language. The code which is written between the tags and defines the HTML Page, code written between the tagsdescribes the content of the web page which is visible in the browser.

Coming to JavaScript, It is a scripting language where functions, validations calculations can be preformed while designing the WebPages. Java script works on all the major web browsers like Internet explorer, Firefox chrome etc. It adds interactivity with the WebPages. It is a lightweight program, which can be embedded easily in the HTML Tags .

Java script can validate data, it can used to create cookies in the sense it can be used to store and retrieve the data on the browser. It can be used to read and change the content of the HTML Tags. JavaScript can react o the events for example it can load dynamically another page when a user clicks the HTML tag. All the programming language code can be used in JavaScript.

Style Sheets: Netscape Communications developed this language. It was basically designed as an alternative for Cascading Style sheets. The main disadvantage of this language was it could be viewed only in Netscape communicator. Where as other scripting languages could be viewed in other browsers like IE, FireFox. Etc. The web pages were stored with .js as file extension. This language was also developed to imbibe in HTML.But this was not as successful as cascading style sheets.
