Tiles

The tile is rectangular in shape and is the manufacturing piece of ceramic, stone, metal, or even glass.  They are used in covering floors, walls, showers, and other objects like tabletops. The word is derived from French word Tuile. They are often used to form coverings for wall and floor, and is ranging from simple square tiles to complex mosaics. Tiles are made from porcelain, fired clay, or ceramic with a hard glaze, but other materials like glass, metal, cork and stone also normally used. Marble, onyx, granite or slates are the tiling stone. Thinner tiles are used on the walls.

Floor Tiles

This Floor tiles are commonly made of ceramic or stone. Recent technological advances have resulted in rubber or glass tiles, ceramic tiles can be painted and glazed. In various pattern mosaic tiles may be laid. Floor tiles are set into mortar consisting of Sand, cement and often latex additive for extra adhesion of floor tiles. Nowadays the gap between the tiles is filled by sanded or unsanded floor grout, but mortar was used traditionally. Granite and marble tiles are sawn on both the sides and then it is polished or finished on the facing upside, to have the uniform thickness. Rubber floors have different uses, both in commercial and residential. They are useful in situations, where it is desired to have high traction floors. It is used in workshops, swimming pool decks, sport courts, gym and dance floors.

Pebble Tile

Pebble tiles are tiles made up of small pebbles which are attached to backing. This tile is generally designed with an interlocking pattern, so that it can fix into the position with the multiple tiles fit together without any flaws. Pebble tiles were originally developed from Indonesia. It is still associated with pebbles found in foreign locations.

Ceiling Tiles

This are considered to be the light weight tiles, and is used in the interior buildings. They provide thermal especially sound insulation and they are kept in the steel grid. They are fabricated from the perlite, mineral wool, and fibers from recycled paper. To improve their sound reflection properties, they have the patterns of hole.

Digital Tile

The technique of printing and digital manipulation of art and photography are used and is called custom tile printing. By using the digital image capture via scanning or digital cameras, bitmaps/ raster images can be prepared in Photoshop and other photo editing software programs. These digital tiles are more increasingly used nowadays for kitchen, showers, and commercial decoration in restaurants, hotels and in many corporate lobbies.
