Punnet Square

Punnet square is used in genetics to predict the outcome of a breeding experiment. It was devised by an English geneticist named Reginald Punnet. The genetic aspect of a living thing is used to determine the probabilities by biologists. Every possible combination of both the genetic parents is analyzed here. These crosses could be monohybrid or dihybrid. Mono hybrid crosses have the dominant and recessive genes of the parents placed separately. For instance B is dominant gene and b is recessive gene. B and b of the mother and that of the father are combined to find the possibilities where BB and bb have 25% chances each while Bb has 50% chances. In case of dihybrids, there are four gene variables instead of two. They are also used in trihybrid cross.
