Architecture

The art and science of designing and up righting buildings and other physical structures is known as architecture. An architect offers or renders professional services in connection with design and construction of a building. Architecture is a general term used to describe buildings and other physical structures. It is a style and method of design and construction of buildings and other physical structures. It compromises design activities in all levels; micro level and macro level. It is the process of planning, designing and constructing form, space and ambience, social, environmental and aesthetic considerations. Architects should be creative and architecture needs creative manipulation and coordination of material, technology, light and shadow. An architect should be brilliant enough to realize buildings and structures, scheduling, cost estimating and construction administration. Architectural works are considered as cultural symbols.

Architectural theory

The act of thinking, discussing or most importantly writing about architecture is known as architectural theory. Most architecture schools teach architectural theory and are practiced by leading architects from all over the world. Architecture theory takes the forms of lecture or dialogue, treatise or book and the paper project. Architectural theory is didactic. Since antiquity, architectural theory has existed. Through years architectural theory has gained increased richness. Architects and critics in the 20^th century have published extraordinary talented works along with books, journals and other magazines. Vitruvius, Leon Battista Alberti, Andrea Palladio, Sebestiano Serlio, John Ruskin, Hans Auer and Hermann Muthesius, Otto Wagner, Raymond Unwin, Lucio Costa, Charles Jencks, Aldo Rossi, Peter Eisenman, Robert Venturi, Jeff Kipins, Leon Krier, Colin Rowe, Robert Somol and Mark Wigley are some architectural theorists.

Architect

Architect is a person who is well trained in planning, design and oversight of the construction of buildings. The responsibility of architect is very great as his decisions affect public safety, so he has to undergo specialized training consisting of advanced education. The term architecture is used in the disciplines like landscape architecture, naval architecture etc… Architecture involves rendering services like pre-design services, programming, planning, and providing designs, drawings, specifications and other technical submissions. In architecture technical knowledge, management and understanding a business is important as design. It is the duty of an architect to co-ordinate a design team throughout the project. Architects are required to register with appropriate jurisdiction. Architects are supposed to meet the three major requirements education, experience and examination. There are specializations in building code, building envelope, sustainable design, historic preservation, accessibility, real estate development, project management and interior design.
