Ball and Socket Joint
There are many types of joints present in human body. Movement of joint is only through ball and socket joints. Ball and socket joint are found where the bone ends. Bone ending has a spherical knob embedded in circular depression of another bone ending. Ball and socket joint permits 360 degree rotation or full circle movement. Each and every individuals shoulder has ball and socket joint. The upper arm of human system congregates at the shoulder blade. Either side of human hip has ball and socket joint. Ball and socket joint in hip is present at the meeting point of pelvic bone referred as femur.
Basic Structure of Ball and Socket Joint:
Human shoulder and hip has ball and socket joint in the name of synovial joints. Synovial joint is universal types of joints present in human body system. The connection or coupling of synovial joints is much more different from other types of joints. It also has an additional tissue which can stroll around the bones both for nourishment and lubrication. Tissues like cartilage tissues are present in each bone where either of the bone crosses each other in order to minimize the chances of friction. Friction is reduced by the presence of fluid like material referred as synovial fluid. Apart from lubrication, synovial fluid also provides efficient function of the cells.
Inside the synovial membrane, there is cartilage tissue and synovial fluid. The synovial membrane along with cartilage and synovial fluid is present in joint capsule. Ligaments hold the joint capsule in one place such that muscles and tendons help in bone movements.
There may be some variations in some joints. For instance, shoulder joint has a small sac referred as bursa. Bursa is full with synovial fluid, thereby lubricates the movement of muscles, tendons, bones of the shoulder.
