Balance sheet Analysis

In accountancy, the balance sheet is also called as statement of financial position. It is a summary of the financial balances of a company, business partnership or sole proprietorship. Liabilities, ownership equity and assets are listed as of a particular date such as the end of its accounting year or fiscal year.  The balance sheet is generally called as the photo print or snapshot of the business organization’s economic condition.

Importance of balance sheet analysis:

Most of the people cannot understand or get confused by seeing the tables and page numbers in the company’s annual report. Sometimes many people might even ignore to notice it. You know that these annual reports or balance sheet must be significant to your investing decision, however, you are not quite sure about how to start or where to start and what they mean. Smart investors know the importance of the financial statements of the company. They are the keys to every business organization. When balance sheet analysis or financial statements are used correctly, it will help to find out what a company or business is actually worth. They could also warn of potential issues and problems. An investor, who knows more about the financial statements, will know which company to invest and which company should not.

Importance of the balance sheet in the financial reports or financial statements:

For every company or business, there are three main financial statements you have to examine such as Cash Flow Statement, Income statements and Balance Sheet. The balance sheet analysis would help you to know about how much cash the business organization has, what is left for the shareholders or stockholders and how much money does the business organization owes.  The cash flow reports or statements would help you to find out where the money is actually spent. The income statement will provide the profitability of the company. It records how much money the company has gained or loss.
